If you are using an eCommerce website like Etsy or Shopify, you’ll want to purchase your own domain name.  It looks so much better to have a quick, easy web address highlighting the name of your business, rather than having all the html minutia that comes with these sites.  It’s really easy and pretty cheap to hold a domain name and it’s a great first step in making sure your customers can find you without hassle.

If You Build It…

Speaking of websites, there are plenty of online builders out there with easy ways to get a professional website up and running without knowing how to code or design.  Try sites like Squarespace to get a professional affordable website with just a couple of clicks.  They have beautiful templates that will match any idea or business you are trying to create.  There are discount codes out there for these website building sites too, so do a little research before signing up.

Branding Made Easy

If you don’t have a brand image or overall theme and look to your business, you should definitely create one.  It doesn’t have to be overly complicated – sometimes it’s easiest to think of a color or font that represents your business and boom, you are already off to a good start.  Back your branding up by getting business cards made in the same style and brand your social media profiles with the same concepts and ideas.  You want everything to look cohesive – all the best brands do.  Think of your favorite store and take note of how they present themselves through emails, website, store design, shopping bags, etc.

Packaging

If you are a small shop or business that sells product, expand your branding to your packaging.  This isn’t eBay where you can box stuff up in old Amazon boxes and call it a day.  Use clean, new packaging and wrap with care.  Think about when you get something in the mail and how first impressions of packaging can enhance the experience or completely sour it.  Running a small business can be challenging but also really rewarding.  Keep your business and brand competitive by trying a couple of these idea
